PSD2 and SCA Compliance

If your website takes online payments you may have received notification about PSD2 compliance and to ensure your payment service has SCA.

So what does this all mean?

PSD2 is the Payment Services Directive implemented by the European Union to give consumers better protection while making payments using Credit or Debit cards and direct debits.

The main intentions of the directive are

Make the payments market across the EU more integrated and efficient

Ensure electronic payments are more secure

Provide a more consistent level of consumer protection.

SCA Strong Customer Authentication

This is the regulatory requirement arising from PSD2 and puts the responsibility for ensuring the consumer is protected while making payments online.

What do you need to do next?

Ensure your online payment system has the required functionality to deliver a SCA.
